Training and practicing is great but making sure you’re playing a high number of competitive matches plays a massive role in helping you reach your tennis potential.

How many matches should a junior player being playing? Great question. Here’s a little guide to help you out.

Primary school students - The equivalent of 50+ best of 3 matches per year

High School Students - The equivalent of 70+ best of 3 matches per year


At The Tennis Practice, we’re giving tennis players of all standards much needed opportunities to play competitive matches on a weekly basis. Our UTR Match Play events are designed to help players gain and improve their Universal Tennis Rating (UTR).

For players with aspirations of a U.S. College Tennis Scholarship, UTR’s play an important role in the recruiting process so a focus on developing a great UTR should be a top priority for all aspiring tennis players.

If you’re not super serious, that’s cool! One of the great benefits of the UTR, is that you can be match up with a player with a similar UTR and a better time will be had by all!
